  1. Provide top-quality patient care: The primary responsibility of this role is to provide excellent patient care within the operating room setting. This includes performing nursing assessments, administering treatments and medications, and monitoring patient progress.
  2. Maintain a flexible schedule: The ideal candidate will have the ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, to meet the needs of the fast-paced and dynamic operating room environment.
  3. Collaborate with healthcare team: As a member of the healthcare team, the Registered Nurse will work collaboratively with physicians, surgeons, and other medical professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients.
  4. Adhere to best practices and standards: The RN will be responsible for following established protocols and best practices to maintain a safe and efficient operating room environment.
  5. Utilize critical thinking skills: In this role, critical thinking skills are essential to assess patient needs, prioritize care, and make quick and effective decisions in emergency situations.
  6. Maintain accurate documentation: The RN will be responsible for maintaining accurate and detailed patient records, including medical history, treatments, and progress notes.
  7. Mentor and train new staff: As an experienced RN, this role may also include mentoring and training new staff members to ensure they are properly oriented and prepared to provide high-quality patient care.
  8. Stay current with industry developments: The Registered Nurse will stay informed about new developments and best practices in the nursing field to continuously improve their skills and knowledge.
  9. Promote a positive work environment: The RN will foster a positive and supportive work environment by communicating effectively with colleagues, displaying a positive attitude, and promoting teamwork and collaboration.
  10. Adhere to legal and ethical standards: The RN will adhere to all legal and ethical standards of nursing practice, including maintaining patient confidentiality and respecting patient rights.

Job Qualifications
  • Valid Rn License: The Candidate Must Hold A Current And Valid Rn License In The State Of New York, Which Is A Requirement For Employment At Northwell Health.

  • Minimum 2 Years Of Or Experience: The Ideal Candidate Should Have At Least 2 Years Of Experience Working In An Operating Room Setting, With A Strong Understanding Of Surgical Procedures, Equipment, And Protocols.

  • Bls And Acls Certifications: As An Rn In The Operating Room, The Candidate Will Be Responsible For Providing Emergency Care In Critical Situations. Therefore, Having Current Bls (Basic Life Support) And Acls (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) Certifications Is Essential.

  • Strong Communication And Teamwork Skills: The Candidate Must Possess Excellent Communication Skills To Effectively Collaborate With Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, And Other Members Of The Surgical Team. They Should Also Be Able To Work Well In A Fast-Paced, High-Stress Environment.

  • Flexibility And Availability For On-Call Shifts: Registered Nurse Casual (Rn) Positions At Northwell Health Often Require Candidates To Work On-Call Shifts, Which May Include Evenings, Weekends, And Holidays. Therefore, The Candidate Must Be Flexible And Available To Work As Needed.
