- Conduct thorough assessments of patients' nutritional needs and develop individualized treatment plans based on their medical history, current health status, and weight loss goals.
- Work closely with bariatric surgeons and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients undergoing bariatric surgery.
- Educate and counsel patients on proper nutrition, dietary changes, and lifestyle modifications to support their weight loss journey and improve overall health.
- Monitor patients' progress and make necessary adjustments to their treatment plans to ensure successful outcomes.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest research and best practices in bariatric nutrition to provide evidence-based care to patients.
- Collaborate with other dietitians and healthcare professionals to develop and implement nutrition education programs for patients and the community.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient progress and provide input on treatment plans.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient interactions, treatment plans, and progress notes.
- Adhere to all regulatory and ethical guidelines in patient care and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Continuously evaluate and improve processes and procedures related to bariatric nutrition services to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.
- Serve as a resource for other healthcare professionals and provide guidance and support in nutrition-related matters.
- Participate in professional development activities and continue to expand knowledge and skills in the field of bariatric nutrition.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment and contribute to the overall success of the bariatric surgery team.
- Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Represent Northwell Health and the bariatric surgery program in a professional and positive manner in all interactions.
Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In Nutrition Or Dietetics From An Accredited College Or University.
Registered Dietitian (Rd) Or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (Rdn) Certification From The Commission On Dietetic Registration.
Minimum Of 2-3 Years Of Experience In Bariatric Surgery Or Weight Management Counseling.
Knowledge Of Current Research And Best Practices In Bariatric Surgery Nutrition, Including Pre-Operative And Post-Operative Care.
Strong Communication And Counseling Skills, With The Ability To Work Effectively With A Multidisciplinary Team And Patients From Diverse Backgrounds.
