- Provide compassionate and exceptional care to new mothers and their babies during the postpartum period.
- Conduct postpartum assessments and monitor the physical and emotional well-being of new mothers.
- Educate and support new mothers on postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, and newborn care.
- Administer medications and treatments as ordered by physicians.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients.
- Maintain accurate and thorough medical records.
- Monitor and report any changes in patient condition to the healthcare team.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
- Provide emotional support and guidance to new mothers and families during the postpartum period.
- Participate in continuous education and training to stay updated on best practices in postpartum care.

Bachelor's Degree In Nursing: This Is A Minimum Requirement For A Postpartum Registered Nurse Position At Northwell Health. A Bachelor's Degree In Nursing Provides A Strong Foundation In Nursing Theory, Clinical Skills, And Evidence-Based Practice, Which Are All Essential For Providing High-Quality Care To Postpartum Patients.
Current Rn License In The State Of New York: Northwell Health Requires All Nurses To Hold A Valid And Current Registered Nurse License In The State Of New York. This Ensures That The Nurse Has Met All The Requirements For Safe And Competent Practice In The State.
Bls And Nrp Certification: Basic Life Support (Bls) And Neonatal Resuscitation Program (Nrp) Certifications Are Mandatory For A Postpartum Registered Nurse At Northwell Health. These Certifications Demonstrate The Nurse's Ability To Respond To Emergency Situations And Provide Life-Saving Interventions For Both The Mother And Baby.
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Postpartum Nursing: Northwell Health Prefers Candidates With At Least 2 Years Of Experience In Postpartum Nursing. This Experience Allows The Nurse To Develop The Necessary Skills And Knowledge To Care For Women During The Postpartum Period, Including Identifying And Managing Postpartum Complications.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Postpartum Registered Nurse, Effective Communication Is Crucial In Providing Education, Support, And Counseling To New Mothers And Their Families.
