- Conduct diagnostic sleep studies on patients of all ages using specialized equipment and techniques.
- Prepare and calibrate equipment prior to each study, ensuring accuracy and functionality.
- Follow established protocols and procedures to ensure the safety and comfort of patients during sleep studies.
- Monitor and record physiological data during sleep studies, including brain waves, heart rate, and respiratory patterns.
- Recognize and respond to abnormal sleep patterns or emergencies during a study, ensuring appropriate interventions are taken.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop treatment plans for patients with sleep disorders.
- Educate patients on sleep hygiene and provide recommendations for improving sleep quality.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of sleep studies and patient information.
- Stay up-to-date on advancements in sleep medicine and technology.
- Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Participate in quality assurance activities to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
- Assist with training and mentoring new polysomnography technologists.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Provide compassionate and empathetic care to patients and their families.
- Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to improve overall patient care and outcomes.
Bachelor's Degree In Polysomnography Or A Related Field, Such As Respiratory Therapy Or Neuroscience.
Certification As A Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (Rpsgt) Through The Board Of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (Brpt).
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Conducting And Analyzing Sleep Studies, Preferably In A Healthcare Setting.
Knowledge Of And Ability To Operate Specialized Equipment Used In Polysomnography, Such As Eeg, Eog, And Emg Machines.
Strong Communication Skills And Ability To Work Collaboratively With A Multidisciplinary Team Of Healthcare Professionals.
