- Greet and welcome patients and their families as they enter the healthcare facility.
- Assist patients with check-in procedures, including verifying personal and insurance information.
- Escort patients to their designated rooms or waiting areas.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure a positive patient experience.
- Assist in answering phone calls and directing them to the appropriate department or individual.
- Monitor and maintain patient waiting areas, ensuring they are clean and orderly.
- Provide emotional support to patients and their families during difficult or stressful situations.
- Assist healthcare team members with direct patient care, such as taking vital signs, assisting with activities of daily living, and providing comfort measures.
- Document patient information accurately and in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure the delivery of safe and effective patient care.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and protocols, including infection control and patient confidentiality.
- Participate in ongoing training and education to maintain and improve skills and knowledge.
- Report any patient concerns or issues to the appropriate healthcare team member.
- Maintain a professional and compassionate attitude towards patients, families, and colleagues.
- Contribute to a positive and supportive work environment.
High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Patient Care Associate Is Required To Have A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent Education. This Ensures Basic Literacy And Numeracy Skills Necessary For The Job.
Certified Nursing Assistant (Cna) Certification: Northwell Health Requires All Patient Care Associates To Be Certified As A Cna. This Certification Demonstrates Proficiency In Basic Nursing Skills Such As Taking Vital Signs, Assisting With Activities Of Daily Living, And Providing Basic Patient Care.
Prior Experience In A Healthcare Setting: Previous Experience Working In A Hospital, Nursing Home, Or Other Healthcare Facility Is Highly Preferred For Patient Care Associate Positions At Northwell Health. This Experience Provides A Foundation Of Knowledge And Skills That Can Be Applied To The Job.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills: Patient Care Associates Must Have Strong Communication Skills To Effectively Interact With Patients, Families, And Other Healthcare Professionals. They Must Also Have Strong Interpersonal Skills To Provide Compassionate And Supportive Care To Patients.
Ability To Work In A Fast-Paced And Dynamic Environment: Working In A Healthcare Setting Can Be Fast-Paced And Unpredictable. Patient Care Associates At Northwell Health Must Have The Ability To Adapt To Changing Situations And Work Efficiently In A Fast-Paced Environment.
