  1. Perform a variety of laboratory tests and procedures accurately and efficiently according to established protocols and standards.
  2. Prepare and process tissue samples for microscopic examination, including embedding, cutting, and staining.
  3. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments, ensuring proper functioning and adherence to safety protocols.
  4. Perform quality control checks and troubleshoot any issues that may arise during testing.
  5. Maintain accurate and detailed records of all tests performed, results obtained, and patient information.
  6. Communicate test results to physicians and other healthcare professionals in a timely and professional manner.
  7. Assist in the training and supervision of laboratory assistants and other staff members.
  8. Comply with all regulatory and safety guidelines, including maintaining proper documentation and following proper disposal procedures for hazardous materials.
  9. Keep up-to-date with the latest developments and advancements in the field of anatomical pathology through continued education and training.
  10. Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to ensure accurate and timely diagnosis and treatment of patients.
  11. Provide exceptional customer service to patients and their families, addressing any questions or concerns they may have.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Medical Laboratory Science Or A Related Field: A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In A Medical Laboratory Science Or A Related Field Is Required For A Pathology Technologist-Anatomical Position At Northwell Health. This Degree Provides The Necessary Knowledge And Skills In Anatomy, Physiology, And Laboratory Techniques To Perform The Job Duties Effectively.

  • Certification As A Medical Laboratory Scientist (Mls): Northwell Health Requires Candidates For This Position To Have Certification As A Medical Laboratory Scientist By The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp). This Certification Ensures That The Candidate Has Met The Educational And Experience Requirements And Has Passed A Comprehensive Exam In Medical Laboratory Science.

  • Strong Knowledge Of Anatomy And Pathology: As A Pathology Technologist-Anatomical, It Is Essential To Have A Strong Understanding Of Anatomy And Pathology. This Includes Knowledge Of Human Anatomy, Tissue Structure, And Function, As Well As Disease Processes And Their Effects On The Body.

  • Experience Working In A Clinical Laboratory Setting: Previous Experience Working In A Clinical Laboratory Setting Is Preferred For This Role. This Experience Provides A Solid Foundation In Laboratory Techniques, Equipment Use, And Quality Control Procedures, Which Are Essential For The Accurate And Timely Performance Of Job Duties.

  • Attention To Detail And Strong Analytical Skills: The Ability To Pay Close Attention To Detail And Analyze Complex Data Is Crucial In This Role. Pathology Technologists-Anatomical Must Be Able To Accurately Identify And Interpret Abnormalities In Tissue Samples And Perform Precise Measurements And Calculations To Ensure Accurate Results.
