- Perform a variety of laboratory tests and procedures accurately and efficiently according to established protocols and standards.
- Prepare and process tissue samples for microscopic examination, including embedding, cutting, and staining.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments, ensuring proper functioning and adherence to safety protocols.
- Perform quality control checks and troubleshoot any issues that may arise during testing.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all tests performed, results obtained, and patient information.
- Communicate test results to physicians and other healthcare professionals in a timely and professional manner.
- Assist in the training and supervision of laboratory assistants and other staff members.

Bachelor's Degree In Medical Laboratory Science Or A Related Field: A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In A Medical Laboratory Science Or A Related Field Is Required For A Pathology Technologist-Anatomical Position At Northwell Health. This Degree Provides The Necessary Knowledge And Skills In Anatomy, Physiology, And Laboratory Techniques To Perform The Job Duties Effectively.
Certification As A Medical Laboratory Scientist (Mls): Northwell Health Requires Candidates For This Position To Have Certification As A Medical Laboratory Scientist By The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp). This Certification Ensures That The Candidate Has Met The Educational And Experience Requirements And Has Passed A Comprehensive Exam In Medical Laboratory Science.
Strong Knowledge Of Anatomy And Pathology: As A Pathology Technologist-Anatomical, It Is Essential To Have A Strong Understanding Of Anatomy And Pathology. This Includes Knowledge Of Human Anatomy, Tissue Structure, And Function, As Well As Disease Processes And Their Effects On The Body.
Experience Working In A Clinical Laboratory Setting: Previous Experience Working In A Clinical Laboratory Setting Is Preferred For This Role. This Experience Provides A Solid Foundation In Laboratory Techniques, Equipment Use, And Quality Control Procedures, Which Are Essential For The Accurate And Timely Performance Of Job Duties.
