- Provide specialized lactation support and guidance to new mothers and their babies.
- Conduct thorough assessments and evaluations of breastfeeding difficulties and develop individualized care plans.
- Educate and empower new mothers on proper breastfeeding techniques and positions.
- Monitor and assist with breastfeeding initiation and establish effective breastfeeding routines.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care for breastfeeding mothers and babies.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient care and progress.
- Stay up-to-date on current research and best practices in lactation support.
- Provide emotional support and counseling to new mothers struggling with breastfeeding challenges.
- Participate in patient and family education programs and community outreach events.
- Uphold patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
- Adhere to all hospital and regulatory policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with patients, their families, and healthcare team members.
- Serve as a resource and mentor to other healthcare professionals on lactation support.
- Continuously evaluate and improve lactation support services within the organization.
- Demonstrate a commitment to providing exceptional patient care and promoting a positive patient experience.
Valid Rn License: The Candidate Must Possess A Current And Unrestricted Rn License In The State Of New York.
Certified Lactation Counselor (Clc) Or International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (Ibclc) Certification: The Candidate Should Have A Clc Or Ibclc Certification, Demonstrating Their Specialized Knowledge And Expertise In Lactation And Breastfeeding Support.
Bachelor's Degree In Nursing (Bsn): A Bsn Degree Is Preferred, As It Provides A Strong Foundation In Nursing Theory And Practice.
Previous Experience In Lactation Support: The Ideal Candidate Should Have At Least 2-3 Years Of Experience Working In A Clinical Setting, Providing Lactation Support To New Mothers And Babies.
Strong Communication And Patient Education Skills: As A Lactation Rn Specialist, The Candidate Will Be Responsible For Educating And Supporting New Mothers In Breastfeeding Techniques And Providing Guidance And Support. Therefore, Excellent Communication Skills And The Ability To Build Rapport With Patients Are Essential Qualifications For This Role.
