- Assist the labor and delivery team in ensuring the safety and well-being of patients during the childbirth process.
- Prepare delivery rooms and equipment for labor and delivery procedures.
- Provide support to patients and their families during labor and delivery.
- Monitor and record vital signs and fetal heart rate during labor and delivery.
- Assist with the administration of medications and intravenous fluids as directed by the medical team.
- Keep accurate and detailed records of patient care and progress.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment in the labor and delivery unit.
- Assist with patient transfers and positioning for labor and delivery procedures.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care.
- Participate in ongoing education and training to maintain and improve upon skills and knowledge.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and infection control measures.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Support and promote a positive and respectful work environment.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- Follow established protocols and procedures for emergency situations.
- Assist with newborn care and provide support to new mothers.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care.
- Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment in the labor and delivery unit.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the labor and delivery team.
Minimum Of 2 Years Experience In A Labor And Delivery Setting: This Qualification Ensures That The Candidate Has A Strong Understanding Of The Specific Processes And Procedures Involved In Assisting With Labor And Delivery.
Certification As A Labor And Delivery Technician: Candidates Should Have A Certification From An Accredited Program To Demonstrate Their Knowledge And Skills In This Specialized Field.
Knowledge Of Medical Terminology And Equipment: Labor And Delivery Technicians Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of Medical Terminology And Be Familiar With The Equipment Used In The Delivery Room.
Ability To Work In A Fast-Paced And High-Pressure Environment: Labor And Delivery Technicians Must Be Able To Handle The Physical And Emotional Demands Of Assisting In The Delivery Of Babies, Often In Urgent And High-Pressure Situations.
Excellent Communication And Teamwork Skills: As Part Of A Larger Healthcare Team, Labor And Delivery Technicians Must Have Strong Communication And Teamwork Skills To Effectively Assist And Support The Medical Staff And Patients During The Childbirth Process.
