- Provide critical support to healthcare professionals in the emergency room by assisting with patient care, monitoring vital signs, and performing basic medical procedures.
- Ensure the safety and comfort of patients by responding to their needs and promptly addressing any concerns or issues that may arise.
- Maintain a clean and organized environment in the emergency room, including stocking and restocking supplies and equipment.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to provide timely and accurate information about patient care and treatment plans.
- Accurately document and record patient information, including vital signs, medical history, and any interventions or treatments provided.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, as well as federal and state regulations, to ensure the highest level of patient care and safety.
- Assist with the transport of patients to and from the emergency room, as well as within the hospital, while prioritizing patient comfort and safety.
- Participate in ongoing training and education to maintain and improve skills and knowledge related to emergency care.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide a multidisciplinary approach to patient care and ensure the best possible outcomes.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations at all times.
High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Educational Requirement For An Emergency Room Technician At Northwell Health Is A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Basic Understanding Of Math, Science, And Communication Skills.
Certified Emergency Medical Technician (Emt): Northwell Health Requires All Emergency Room Technicians To Have A Valid Emt Certification. This Certification Ensures That The Candidate Has Received Proper Training In Emergency Medical Procedures And Can Provide Basic Life Support.
Previous Experience In A Healthcare Setting: Candidates With Previous Experience In A Healthcare Setting, Such As A Hospital Or Clinic, Will Be Preferred For The Role Of Emergency Room Technician. This Experience Demonstrates The Candidate's Familiarity With Medical Terminology, Equipment, And Procedures.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: An Emergency Room Technician At Northwell Health Must Be Able To Effectively Communicate With Patients, Family Members, And Other Healthcare Professionals. This Requires Strong Verbal And Written Communication Skills, As Well As The Ability To Remain Calm And Professional In High-Stress Situations.
Ability To Work In A Fast-Paced Environment: The Emergency Room At Northwell Health Can Be A Fast-Paced And High-Pressure Environment.
