  1. Perform cytology tests and procedures accurately and efficiently to aid in disease diagnosis and treatment.
  2. Follow established protocols and guidelines to ensure quality and accuracy of results.
  3. Prepare and examine specimens under a microscope, identifying abnormal cells and documenting findings.
  4. Maintain laboratory equipment, troubleshoot issues, and perform regular quality control checks.
  5. Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  6. Work collaboratively with other laboratory staff and healthcare professionals to ensure proper patient care.
  7. Keep accurate records and document all procedures and results in accordance with regulatory standards.
  8. Stay updated on current developments and advancements in cytology technology and techniques.
  9. Provide excellent customer service to patients and healthcare providers, addressing any questions or concerns.
  10. Assist in training and mentoring new staff members and students.
  11. Follow HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality.
  12. Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
  13. Comply with Northwell Health's policies and procedures.
  14. Maintain professional growth and development through continuing education and training opportunities.
  15. Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols to ensure a safe work environment for yourself and others.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Cytotechnology Or Related Field.

  • Certification From The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp).

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In A Clinical Cytology Laboratory.

  • Knowledge Of Current Cytology Techniques And Procedures.

  • Ability To Accurately Interpret And Report Results Of Cytology Tests.
