- Perform various laboratory tests and procedures in the field of cytology to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and disorders.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring accuracy and precision in testing.
- Prepare and analyze patient samples, including tissue and cell specimens, using various laboratory techniques such as staining, culturing, and microscopy.
- Document and maintain accurate records of test results and patient information.
- Communicate with healthcare professionals to provide timely and accurate results, as well as consult on any abnormalities or discrepancies.
- Adhere to all safety and quality control protocols to ensure the accuracy and validity of test results.
- Stay up-to-date with advancements and changes in the field of cytology and implement new techniques and technologies into laboratory procedures.
- Collaborate with other members of the laboratory team to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and assist in developing and implementing new laboratory procedures.
- Provide guidance and training to new laboratory staff and students in the field of cytology.
- Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards in handling patient information and test results.
- Comply with all regulatory and accreditation standards, including but not limited to CLIA, CAP, and OSHA.
- Attend and participate in department meetings, continuing education programs, and seminars to further professional development.
- Perform any other duties or responsibilities assigned by laboratory management.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Collaboratively With A Multidisciplinary Team.
Bachelor's Degree In Cytology Or Related Field From An Accredited College Or University.
Certification As A Cytotechnologist (Ct) Through The American Society Of Cytopathology (Ascp) Or Equivalent.
Minimum Of 2-3 Years Of Experience In A Clinical Laboratory Setting, Preferably In Cytology.
Knowledge Of Current Cytology Techniques, Laboratory Equipment, And Safety Protocols.
