As an Underwriter, you will play a critical role in assessing and managing risk for our non-mortgage lending activities.   1. Evaluate and analyze the creditworthiness of high-net-worth clients to determine their eligibility for non-mortgage lending activities.
  2. Assess and manage risk for lending activities, including identifying potential risk factors and developing strategies to mitigate them.
  3. Review and verify financial documents, such as tax returns and investment portfolios, to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  4. Collaborate with Private Bankers and Relationship Managers to understand client needs and provide tailored lending solutions.
  5. Conduct thorough due diligence and research on clients to gather necessary information for underwriting decisions.
  6. Stay updated on industry trends and regulations related to private banking and lending.
  7. Communicate effectively with clients to gather necessary information and provide updates on the status of their applications.
  8. Maintain accurate and organized records of all underwriting decisions and activities.
  9. Utilize financial models and analysis tools to assess risk and evaluate loan structures.
  10. Provide exceptional customer service by promptly responding to client inquiries and concerns.
  11. Work closely with other departments, such as Legal and Compliance, to ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
  12. Participate in training and development activities to enhance skills and knowledge related to underwriting and private banking.
  13. Remain proactive in identifying areas for process improvement and implementing solutions.
  14. Adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines and handle sensitive client information with care.
  15. Represent Northern Trust in a professional and positive manner at all times.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Finance, Economics, Or A Related Field.

  • At Least 3-5 Years Of Experience In Underwriting For Private Banking Clients.

  • Strong Understanding Of Financial Markets, Investment Products, And Risk Management Principles.

  • Excellent Analytical And Critical Thinking Skills, With The Ability To Make Sound Decisions Based On Complex Financial Information.

  • Proficient In Computer Software And Systems Used For Underwriting, Such As Credit Risk Assessment Tools, Financial Analysis Software, And Loan Origination Systems.
