Job Description

  1. Develop and design new and innovative sweater and knitwear styles that align with Nordstrom's brand aesthetic and trends in the fashion industry.
  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the timely and successful execution of designs, from concept to production.
  3. Conduct market research and trend analysis to identify new design opportunities and stay ahead of industry trends.
  4. Create detailed sketches, technical drawings, and specifications for each design, including fabric selection, colors, and fit.
  5. Work closely with the product development team to source and select materials that meet quality standards and price points.
  6. Participate in fittings and provide feedback to ensure the fit and construction of each design meets Nordstrom's standards.
  7. Communicate and present design concepts and ideas to key stakeholders, including buyers and merchandisers.
  8. Manage multiple projects and prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
  9. Stay updated on industry and fashion trends, and incorporate them into designs to keep Nordstrom's knitwear offerings fresh and on-trend.
  10. Ensure consistency and integrity of designs across different product categories and collections.
  11. Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to source materials and negotiate pricing.
  12. Mentor and provide guidance to junior designers and interns.
  13. Adhere to Nordstrom's ethical and sustainability standards in all design processes.
  14. Maintain accurate and organized design records, including sketches, technical drawings, and samples.
  15. Continuously strive to improve and elevate Nordstrom's knitwear offerings through innovative and trend-setting designs.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Fashion Design Or Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 3 Years Of Experience In Designing Sweaters And Knits.

  • Strong Understanding Of Market Trends And Ability To Translate Them Into Innovative Designs.

  • Proficient In Design Software Such As Adobe Creative Suite And Microsoft Office.

  • Excellent Communication And Collaboration Skills To Work With Cross-Functional Teams And Vendors.
