  1. Monitor and patrol the store premises to prevent theft and ensure the safety of merchandise, employees, and customers.
  2. Utilize surveillance equipment and conduct regular audits to identify potential security risks and suspicious activity.
  3. Collaborate with store management and other team members to develop and implement security procedures and protocols.
  4. Respond to and resolve any security incidents, including shoplifting, employee theft, and other safety concerns.
  5. Interact with customers in a professional and courteous manner, providing exceptional customer service while also deterring theft and fraud.
  6. Train and educate store employees on proper security measures and procedures to maintain a safe and secure store environment.
  7. Conduct investigations and gather evidence to support potential criminal cases, working closely with law enforcement as needed.
  8. Keep accurate records of security incidents, reporting them to management and maintaining confidentiality as needed.
  9. Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices in asset protection, implementing new strategies and techniques to enhance store security.
  10. Collaborate with other departments, such as Loss Prevention and Human Resources, to address and resolve any security or safety concerns.
  11. Maintain a professional and approachable demeanor and adhere to company policies and standards at all times.

Job Qualifications
  • Prior Experience In Security Or Loss Prevention: A Successful Candidate For The Asset Protection Agent Role At Nordstrom Should Have Previous Experience Working In Security Or Loss Prevention, Preferably In A Retail Setting. This Will Demonstrate Their Understanding Of Security Procedures And Their Ability To Handle Potential Threats Or Incidents.

  • Strong Communication Skills: As An Asset Protection Agent, The Candidate Will Need To Communicate Effectively With Both Customers And Colleagues. This Includes De-Escalating Conflicts, Providing Clear And Concise Instructions, And Writing Detailed Incident Reports. Excellent Communication Skills Are A Must For This Role.

  • Knowledge Of Security Systems And Procedures: Nordstrom Has Advanced Security Systems In Place To Protect Their Assets, And The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Good Understanding Of These Systems. They Should Also Be Familiar With Emergency Procedures And Have The Ability To Operate Surveillance Equipment.

  • Attention To Detail: Asset Protection Requires A High Level Of Attention To Detail, As The Candidate Will Be Responsible For Identifying Potential Security Threats And Preventing Loss. They Should Be Able To Notice Suspicious Behavior, Identify Potential Risks, And Take Appropriate Action.

  • Physical Fitness And Ability To Handle Stressful Situations: Asset Protection Agents May Be Required To Stand For Extended Periods, Walk For Long Distances, And Sometimes Restrain Individuals. They Should Also Be Able To Remain Calm And Composed In High-Stress Situations, As They May Need To Handle Difficult And Potentially Dangerous Situations. Physical Fitness And Resilience Are Important Qualities For This Role.
