  1. Evaluate and assess the risk and potential of Long-Term Care policies to determine eligibility for coverage.
  2. Use underwriting guidelines and procedures to evaluate applications, medical records, and other relevant information to make informed decisions.
  3. Conduct thorough analysis of LTC policies to identify potential risks and make recommendations for policy adjustments or denials.
  4. Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including policyholders, agents, and medical professionals, to gather necessary information and provide updates on underwriting decisions.
  5. Stay up-to-date on industry trends and changes in the LTC market to ensure accurate risk assessment and identify opportunities for improvement.
  6. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, claims, and marketing, to ensure a seamless and efficient underwriting process.
  7. Maintain accurate and detailed records of underwriting decisions, including supporting documentation and justification for each decision.
  8. Adhere to company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance and mitigate risk.
  9. Participate in training and development programs to enhance knowledge and skills related to LTC underwriting.
  10. Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and empathy in all interactions with policyholders and team members.
  11. Identify areas for process improvement and make recommendations to enhance efficiency and accuracy in LTC underwriting.
  12. Represent the company and its values to policyholders and the public, promoting a positive image of New York Life.

Job Qualifications
  • Minimum Of 5 Years Experience In Long-Term Care Insurance Underwriting.

  • In-Depth Knowledge Of Morbidity Risk Assessment And Pricing Methodologies.

  • Strong Analytical Skills And Ability To Interpret Complex Data And Medical Information.

  • Experience With Underwriting Software And Systems, Such As Mib, Rx Database, And Electronic Medical Records.

  • Advanced Understanding Of State And Federal Regulations Related To Long-Term Care Insurance.
