- Develop and oversee the overall vision and direction for the weekend primetime programming, in line with the values and standards of MSNBC.
- Collaborate with the team of journalists and producers to generate creative and engaging ideas for news stories, segments, and interviews.
- Ensure that all content produced meets the highest standards of journalistic integrity and accuracy.
- Manage and mentor a team of producers, providing guidance, feedback, and support to help them deliver their best work.
- Coordinate with other departments, such as graphics, audio, and engineering, to ensure smooth and seamless production of the show.
- Stay up-to-date with current events and breaking news, and make informed decisions on which stories to cover and how to present them.
- Conduct regular meetings with the team to discuss ideas, review progress, and make adjustments as needed.
- Oversee the budget for the weekend primetime programming, making strategic decisions to allocate resources effectively.
- Work closely with the director and other production staff to ensure the show runs smoothly and meets all technical and creative requirements.
- Serve as a liaison between the weekend primetime team and other departments, communicating any changes or updates and ensuring a cohesive and collaborative work environment.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and innovations, and implement new ideas and techniques to enhance the quality and impact of the show.
- Maintain relationships with external partners, such as news sources and guests, to secure exclusive interviews and breaking news coverage.
- Take responsibility for any issues or challenges that may arise during production, and find solutions to ensure the show goes on without interruption.
- Consistently evaluate and improve the weekend primetime programming, seeking feedback from both internal and external sources.
- Represent MSNBC and NBCUniversal Media in a professional and positive manner, both internally and externally.
Extensive Experience In Producing News Content: The Senior Producer Should Have At Least 7-10 Years Of Experience In Producing News Content, Preferably In A Live Television Environment. They Should Have A Strong Understanding Of News Production Processes And Be Able To Make Quick And Effective Editorial Decisions.
Proven Leadership Skills: The Senior Producer Should Have A Track Record Of Successfully Leading A Team Of Producers And Other Production Staff. They Should Have Excellent Communication And Organizational Skills, And Be Able To Motivate And Guide Their Team To Produce High-Quality Content.
In-Depth Knowledge Of Political And Current Affairs: As Msnbc Is A News Channel That Primarily Covers Politics And Current Events, The Senior Producer Should Have A Deep Understanding Of These Topics. They Should Be Well-Versed In Current Political And Social Issues And Be Able To Provide Insightful And Relevant Coverage.
Strong Editorial Judgment: The Senior Producer Should Have Excellent Editorial Judgment And Be Able To Make Strategic Decisions About Content Selection And Placement. They Should Have A Keen Eye For Newsworthy Stories And Be Able To Identify And Develop Compelling Angles For Coverage.
