As the Assignment Desk Editor, you will play a crucial role in our newsroom by coordinating and assigning coverage for our daily broadcasts. We are looking for someone with a strong understanding of the Hispanic community and a passion for delivering timely and accurate news. - Coordinate and assign news coverage for daily broadcasts.
- Monitor news sources and pitch story ideas to the news team.
- Research and gather information for news stories.
- Build and maintain relationships with community contacts and sources.
- Work closely with reporters and producers to ensure accurate and timely news coverage.
- Manage and prioritize multiple stories and breaking news events.
- Monitor social media and other digital platforms for potential news stories.
- Stay updated on current events and news related to the Hispanic community.
- Communicate effectively with all team members and departments.
- Ensure all content meets company standards and journalistic ethics.
- Verify facts and sources for news stories.
- Collaborate with other departments to coordinate coverage of special events and breaking news.
- Organize and maintain newsroom files and databases.
- Train and mentor junior staff members.
- Keep up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in technology.
Bachelor's Degree In Journalism, Broadcasting, Or A Related Field.
Minimum Of 3-5 Years Experience In A Newsroom Environment, With At Least 1-2 Years In An Assignment Desk Role.
Strong Organizational Skills And Ability To Multi-Task In A Fast-Paced, Deadline-Driven Environment.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Collaboratively With Producers, Reporters, And Other Newsroom Staff.
Knowledge Of And Experience With Newsroom Software And Tools, Including Enps, Inews, And Social Media Platforms.
