
Deputy Director, Safety and Mission Assurance Directorate

- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Safety and Mission Assurance Directorate, including managing a team of safety and mission assurance professionals.
- Develop and implement strategies to continuously improve safety and mission assurance processes and procedures.
- Collaborate with other departments and teams within NASA to ensure cohesive and effective safety practices across all missions and projects.
- Conduct thorough reviews and evaluations of potential risks and hazards, and provide recommendations for mitigation strategies.
- Lead efforts to develop and maintain safety and mission assurance policies, standards, and guidelines.
- Stay current with industry best practices and regulations related to safety and mission assurance, and make recommendations for implementation within the organization.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance on safety and mission assurance issues to project teams and senior leadership.
- Oversee the development and execution of safety and mission assurance training programs for employees and contractors.
- Serve as a liaison with external stakeholders, including government agencies, contractors, and industry partners, on safety and mission assurance matters.
- Serve as a member of the senior leadership team, providing input and direction on overall organizational goals and strategies.
- Foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the organization.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure compliance with safety and mission assurance policies and procedures.
- Lead investigations into safety incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Manage budget and resource allocation for the Safety and Mission Assurance Directorate.
- Mentor and develop team members, providing guidance and support for their professional growth and development.
Bachelor's Degree In Engineering, Science, Or A Related Field.
Minimum Of 10 Years Experience In The Field Of Safety And Mission Assurance, With At Least 5 Years In A Leadership Or Management Role.
Extensive Knowledge Of Safety And Quality Assurance Processes And Regulations, Particularly In The Context Of Aerospace And Space Exploration.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Collaborate With A Diverse Team And Effectively Convey Information To Stakeholders.
Strong Leadership Abilities, Including Strategic Planning, Decision-Making, And Problem-Solving Skills, To Effectively Manage And Guide The Safety And Mission Assurance Directorate.
