- Lead and manage the Division of Physician Assistant Studies (PAS) program at MUSC Health.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum that meets accreditation standards and prepares students for successful careers as physician assistants.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students.
- Monitor and evaluate program performance and make necessary adjustments to ensure high-quality education and training.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to faculty and staff, promoting professional development and teamwork.
- Foster relationships with clinical partners and preceptors to ensure high-quality clinical experiences for students.
- Stay current with industry trends and developments, incorporating them into the curriculum as appropriate.
- Ensure compliance with all accreditation standards and regulations.
- Oversee the admissions process and participate in candidate selection.
- Serve as a role model for students, demonstrating professionalism, compassion, and a commitment to diversity and inclusivity.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, seeking feedback from students, faculty, and staff to enhance the program.
- Represent the PAS program at internal and external events and conferences.
- Serve as a liaison between the program and other departments within MUSC Health.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to promote interdisciplinary education and collaboration.
- Maintain open and effective communication with students, faculty, staff, and administration.
Medical Degree And Current Licensure: The Program Director Must Have A Medical Degree And Hold A Current License To Practice As A Physician Assistant In The State Of South Carolina. This Ensures That They Have The Necessary Medical Knowledge And Expertise To Oversee The Pas Program.
Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Pa Education: The Ideal Candidate For This Role Should Have At Least 5 Years Of Experience In Teaching And/Or Administering A Pa Education Program. This Demonstrates Their Understanding Of The Educational And Administrative Aspects Of Running A Successful Pas Program.
Strong Leadership And Communication Skills: As The Head Of The Pas Program, The Program Director Must Possess Strong Leadership Skills And Be Able To Effectively Communicate With Faculty, Staff, And Students. They Should Also Have Experience In Managing Budgets, Developing Curriculum, And Collaborating With Other Departments.
Knowledge Of Accreditation Requirements: The Pas Program At Musc Health Must Maintain Accreditation From The Accreditation Review Commission On Education For The Physician Assistant (Arc-Pa). The Program Director Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of The Accreditation Requirements And Be Able To Ensure That The Program Meets And Maintains These Standards.
