  1. Assist surgeons during surgical procedures by providing necessary instruments and supplies.
  2. Maintain a sterile environment in the operating room to prevent infection and ensure patient safety.
  3. Prepare and organize surgical instruments and equipment prior to procedures.
  4. Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and provide timely assistance.
  5. Ensure the comfort and well-being of patients before, during, and after surgical procedures.
  6. Adhere to all safety protocols and infection control measures.
  7. Collaborate with other healthcare team members to ensure the smooth flow of the surgical procedure.
  8. Monitor and maintain inventory of surgical supplies and equipment.

Job Qualifications
  • Completion Of An Accredited Surgical Technology Program: A Surgical Technologist I At Musc Health Should Have Completed An Accredited Program In Surgical Technology To Ensure They Have The Necessary Knowledge And Skills For The Job.

  • Certified Surgical Technologist (Cst) Credential: Holding A Cst Credential From The National Board Of Surgical Technology And Surgical Assisting (Nbstsa) Is Preferred For This Role, As It Demonstrates A Level Of Competency And Commitment To The Field.

  • Knowledge Of Surgical Procedures And Equipment: Candidates Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Various Surgical Procedures And The Equipment Used In The Operating Room, Including Sterilization Techniques, Handling Of Instruments, And Operating Room Safety.

  • Experience In A Hospital Setting: Previous Experience Working In A Hospital Setting, Preferably In A Surgical Environment, Is Highly Desired For This Role. This Experience Will Allow The Candidate To Quickly Adapt To The Fast-Paced And High-Pressure Nature Of The Job.

  • Strong Communication And Teamwork Skills: As A Surgical Technologist I, The Candidate Will Be Working Closely With Surgeons, Nurses, And Other Healthcare Professionals. Therefore, Strong Communication And Teamwork Skills Are Essential To Ensure Safe And Efficient Patient Care.
