  1. Dispense medications: The primary responsibility of a State Certified Pharmacy Tech at MUSC Health is to accurately and safely dispense medications to patients.
  2. Follow standard procedures: The Pharmacy Tech must follow all standard procedures and protocols established by MUSC Health and the state pharmacy board to ensure the proper handling and dispensing of medications.
  3. Maintain inventory: The Pharmacy Tech is responsible for managing and maintaining inventory levels of all medications and supplies in the pharmacy, ensuring that medications are always in stock and properly stored.
  4. Verify prescriptions: The Pharmacy Tech must accurately verify prescriptions to ensure the correct medication, dosage, and instructions are dispensed to patients.
  5. Provide customer service: The Pharmacy Tech will interact with patients and healthcare providers, providing excellent customer service and addressing any questions or concerns related to medications.
  6. Comply with safety regulations: The Pharmacy Tech must adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of medications, to ensure the safety of patients and staff.
  7. Document and record keeping: The Pharmacy Tech is responsible for maintaining accurate and detailed records of all medications dispensed, inventory levels, and other important documentation related to the pharmacy.
  8. Collaborate with healthcare team: The Pharmacy Tech will work closely with pharmacists, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team to ensure the safe and effective use of medications for patients.
  9. Stay updated on industry developments: The Pharmacy Tech must stay informed about new medications, regulations, and developments in the pharmacy industry to provide the best care possible to patients.
  10. Maintain confidentiality: The Pharmacy Tech must maintain strict confidentiality of patient information and follow all HIPAA regulations.
  11. Assist with other duties: The Pharmacy Tech may be required to assist with other duties in the pharmacy, such as restocking shelves, preparing medications, or processing insurance claims.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Ged: A State Certified Pharmacy Tech At Musc Health Must Have A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent To Be Considered For The Role.

  • State Certification: The Candidate Must Hold A Current And Valid State Certification As A Pharmacy Technician. This Is A Requirement For All Pharmacy Tech Positions At Musc Health.

  • Previous Experience: Previous Experience As A Pharmacy Technician Is Preferred, But Not Required. However, Candidates With Prior Experience Will Be Given Priority In The Selection Process.

  • Knowledge Of Pharmacy Regulations: The Candidate Must Have A Strong Understanding Of Pharmacy Regulations And Be Able To Adhere To Them In Their Daily Work. This Includes Knowledge Of Controlled Substance Regulations, Safety Protocols, And Hipaa Compliance.

  • Excellent Communication Skills: As A Prn Pharmacy Tech, The Candidate Must Have Excellent Communication Skills To Effectively Interact With Patients, Pharmacists, And Other Healthcare Professionals. This Includes Being Able To Listen Actively, Convey Information Clearly, And Work Collaboratively In A Fast-Paced Environment.
