Job Description

MUSC Health is looking for a compassionate and dedicated Social Worker to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will provide services to patients and their families to help them cope with the social, emotional, and financial effects of a medical condition or illness. To be successful, you must possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills, as well as an understanding of the psychological, cultural, and social factors that can influence a patient’s health. If you have a passion for helping people in need and the necessary qualifications, we would love to hear from you.Required Qualifications:• Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited college or university• Current licensure as a Licensed Social Worker (LSW)• At least 2 years of experience working in a healthcare setting• Demonstrable knowledge of relevant medical terminology• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills• Ability to identify and assess patient needs and provide appropriate interventions• Understanding of ethical and legal considerations related to patient care• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide social work services to patients and their families in order to help them cope with the social, emotional, and financial effects of a medical condition or illness.
  2. Utilize excellent communication and problem-solving skills to identify and assess patient needs and provide appropriate interventions.
  3. Maintain current licensure as a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) and demonstrate knowledge of relevant medical terminology.
  4. Remain knowledgeable and up-to-date on ethical and legal considerations related to patient care.
  5. Work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide the best care possible.
  6. Document patient information and progress accurately and in a timely manner.
  7. Develop and implement plans for patient care in collaboration with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  8. Assist patients and their families in navigating the healthcare system and obtaining appropriate resources.
  9. Assist patients in developing strategies to cope with issues related to their medical condition and/or illness.
  10. Maintain confidentiality of patient information at all times.
