  1. Monitor and patrol assigned areas to ensure the safety and security of all individuals on MUSC Health property.
  2. Respond promptly and effectively to all security incidents and emergencies, following established protocols and procedures.
  3. Conduct routine checks of equipment, systems, and facilities to identify and report any potential security risks or hazards.
  4. Utilize security protocols, including access control and surveillance systems, to prevent unauthorized access and maintain a secure environment.
  5. Maintain accurate and detailed records of all security-related incidents, including written reports and statements.
  6. Collaborate with other security team members, as well as hospital staff and law enforcement, to address security concerns and resolve any issues that may arise.
  7. Provide excellent customer service to patients, visitors, and staff, addressing any security-related questions or concerns in a professional and courteous manner.
  8. Stay up-to-date with security policies, procedures, and regulations, and ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
  9. Adhere to ethical and professional standards at all times, maintaining confidentiality and integrity in all interactions.
  10. Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance security knowledge and skills.

Job Qualifications

  • Prior Experience In Law Enforcement Or Security: A Qualified Security Officer At Musc Health Should Have A Background In Law Enforcement Or Security, Either Through Previous Employment Or Training Programs. This Experience Will Provide The Necessary Skills And Knowledge To Effectively Handle Security Situations In A Healthcare Setting.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: A Security Officer At Musc Health Should Possess Excellent Communication Skills In Order To Interact With Patients, Visitors, And Staff In A Professional Manner. This Includes The Ability To De-Escalate Potentially Volatile Situations And Effectively Convey Information To Others.

  • Knowledge Of Healthcare Security Protocols: Musc Health Is A Healthcare Facility, So A Qualified Security Officer Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Security Protocols Specific To This Setting. This Includes Knowledge Of Hipaa Regulations, Emergency Response Procedures, And Patient Confidentiality.

  • Physical Fitness And Agility: A Security Officer May Be Required To Respond To Emergency Situations Quickly And May Need To Physically Restrain Individuals If Necessary. Therefore, They Should Have A Certain Level Of Physical Fitness And Agility To Perform Their Duties Effectively.

  • Attention To Detail And Ability To Multitask: Musc Health Is A Large And Busy Healthcare Facility, So A Qualified Security Officer Should Have Strong Attention To Detail And The Ability To Multitask. They Should Be Able To Monitor Multiple Areas And Situations Simultaneously, While Also Being Able To Accurately Document And Report Any Incidents.
