  1. Maintain a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff at all times.
  2. Conduct regular patrols and monitor the premises to identify and prevent potential security risks.
  3. Respond to emergency situations and take appropriate actions in accordance with established protocols.
  4. Monitor and control access to restricted areas within the facility.
  5. Effectively communicate with patients, visitors, and staff to provide directions, assistance, and support as needed.
  6. Collaborate with law enforcement and other emergency personnel as needed.
  7. Document all security-related incidents and prepare detailed reports.
  8. Investigate and resolve any security concerns or violations.
  9. Utilize security equipment and technology, such as CCTV cameras and access control systems, to ensure the safety and security of the facility.
  10. Attend training and ongoing education programs to maintain knowledge of security procedures and protocols.
  11. Serve as a role model for professionalism, integrity, and customer service.
  12. Act as a liaison between the hospital and local law enforcement agencies.
  13. Participate in meetings and committees related to security and safety.
  14. Comply with all policies, procedures, and regulations of MUSC Health.
  15. Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned by the Security Manager or supervisor.

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Education Requirement For A Security Officer Position At Musc Health Is A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Demonstrates Basic Educational Competence And The Ability To Follow Instructions And Procedures.

  • Prior Experience In Security Or Law Enforcement: Previous Experience In Security Or Law Enforcement Is Highly Preferred For A Security Officer Job At Musc Health. This Experience Provides The Necessary Skills And Knowledge To Effectively Handle Security Situations And Protect The Facility And Its Patients.

  • Knowledge Of Security Protocols And Procedures: A Strong Understanding Of Security Protocols And Procedures Is Essential For A Security Officer At Musc Health. This Includes Knowledge Of Emergency Response, Access Control, And Incident Reporting.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Security Officer At Musc Health, One Must Be Able To Effectively Communicate With Patients, Visitors, And Staff In A Calm And Professional Manner. Strong Interpersonal Skills Are Also Necessary For Building Relationships And Working Effectively With A Team.

  • Physical Fitness And Ability To Handle Physical Demands: Security Officers At Musc Health May Be Required To Stand Or Walk For Long Periods Of Time, As Well As Respond To Emergencies And Physically Restrain Individuals If Necessary. Therefore, Physical Fitness And The Ability To Handle Physically Demanding Tasks Are Important Qualifications For This Position.
