Job Qualifications
  • Certification: A Phlebotomy Technician At Musc Health Must Have A Valid Certification From An Accredited Organization, Such As The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp) Or The National Healthcareer Association (Nha).

  • Knowledge Of Phlebotomy Techniques: Candidates Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of Various Phlebotomy Techniques, Including Venipuncture, Capillary Puncture, And Blood Analysis. They Should Also Be Familiar With Safety Protocols And Infection Control Measures.

  • Experience: Musc Health Prefers Candidates With At Least 1-2 Years Of Experience In A Clinical Setting. Previous Experience In A Hospital Or Healthcare Environment Is Highly Desirable.

  • Communication Skills: Strong Communication Skills Are Essential For A Successful Phlebotomy Technician. They Must Be Able To Effectively Communicate With Patients, Colleagues, And Other Healthcare Professionals, As Well As Accurately Record And Report Test Results.

  • Attention To Detail: The Job Of A Phlebotomy Technician Requires Great Attention To Detail, As They Are Responsible For Collecting And Labeling Blood Samples Accurately. They Must Also Be Able To Follow Strict Protocols And Maintain A High Level Of Accuracy To Ensure Reliable Test Results.
