
Patient Companion
MUSC Health is looking for a compassionate and reliable Patient Companion who will provide a welcoming and supportive environment for our patients and their families. The successful candidate should have a genuine concern for others and possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. The Patient Companion will ensure that all patients receive superior care and attention during their stay with us. The role requires a person who is comfortable interacting with people of all ages, from diverse backgrounds, and with varying medical needs. The Patient Companion will be an integral part of the health care team and will be expected to work collaboratively with other departments. To be considered for this position, you must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in a health care setting or working with the elderly is a plus. Additionally, you must be able to work flexible hours and be willing to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Provide a welcoming and supportive environment for patients and their families.
- Ensure that all patients receive superior care and attention during their stay.
- Interact with people of all ages, from diverse backgrounds, and with varying medical needs.
- Work collaboratively with other departments within the healthcare team.
- Maintain patient confidentiality.
- Work flexible hours, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Provide comfort and emotional support to patients and families.
- Assist patients with daily activities such as eating, bathing, and dressing.
- Monitor vital signs and alert medical staff to changes in a patient’s condition.
- Assist nurses and physicians in providing medical care.
