- Provide compassionate and patient-centered care to patients with neurological conditions and disorders.
- Perform basic patient care tasks such as taking vital signs, assisting with activities of daily living, and monitoring patient status.
- Collaborate with nurses and other healthcare team members to ensure efficient and effective patient care.
- Document patient information accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain a clean and safe patient environment, including infection control measures.
- Assist with patient transfers, ambulation, and positioning according to established protocols and procedures.
- Perform basic medical procedures such as collecting specimens, administering medication, and changing dressings under the supervision of a nurse.
- Monitor and report any changes in patient's condition to the appropriate healthcare team member.
- Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families.
- Participate in ongoing training and education to maintain knowledge of current healthcare practices and procedures.
- Adhere to hospital policies and procedures, including maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Assist in maintaining unit supplies and equipment.
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Continuously strive to improve patient care and outcomes.
- Provide excellent customer service to patients, families, and visitors.
Certification: A Patient Care Technician At Musc Health Should Hold A Current Certification As A Patient Care Technician From An Accredited Institution, Such As The National Healthcareer Association Or The American Medical Technologists.
Knowledge Of Neuroscience: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Neuroscience And Its Related Disorders, As Well As Knowledge Of Common Treatments And Procedures Used In Patient Care For This Specialty.
Experience: Previous Experience Working In A Healthcare Setting, Particularly In A Neuroscience Unit, Is Highly Preferred. This Could Include Experience As A Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Or Other Related Role.
Communication Skills: Excellent Communication Skills Are A Must For A Patient Care Technician At Musc Health. This Includes The Ability To Effectively Communicate With Patients, Families, And Other Healthcare Professionals In A Compassionate And Professional Manner.
Multitasking And Time Management: The Nature Of A Patient Care Technician's Job Requires The Ability To Multitask And Manage Time Effectively. The Candidate Should Be Able To Prioritize Tasks And Handle Multiple Responsibilities While Maintaining A High Level Of Attention To Detail And Patient Care.
