  1. Provide compassionate and high-quality care to patients in the Medical Surgical unit.
  2. Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team including nurses, doctors, and other healthcare professionals.
  3. Monitor and assess patients' physical and emotional well-being and report any changes to the healthcare team.
  4. Assist with daily tasks such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and ambulating patients.
  5. Administer medications and treatments as directed by healthcare professionals.
  6. Ensure patient safety by following infection control protocols and responding to emergencies.
  7. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  8. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care.
  9. Adhere to hospital policies and procedures and maintain patient confidentiality.
  10. Demonstrate a positive and empathetic attitude towards patients and their families.
  11. Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced and dynamic healthcare environment.
  12. Attend and actively participate in team meetings and training sessions.
  13. Continuously seek opportunities to improve patient care and workflow processes.
  14. Maintain a clean and organized patient care environment.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Patient Care Tech At Musc Health Should Possess A Basic Level Of Education To Effectively Communicate With Patients, Understand Medical Terminology, And Perform Job Duties.

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (Cna) Or Medical Assistant (Ma) Certification: Musc Health Prefers Candidates With A Cna Or Ma Certification, As It Demonstrates A Level Of Competence And Knowledge In Patient Care.

  • Basic Life Support (Bls) Certification: As A Medical Facility, Musc Health Requires All Employees To Maintain A Current Bls Certification, Which Includes Training In Cpr And Aed Use.

  • Previous Experience In A Medical Setting: While Not Always Required, Musc Health Looks For Candidates With Previous Experience In A Healthcare Setting, Particularly In A Medical-Surgical Unit.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Patient Care Tech, The Ability To Communicate Effectively With Patients And Other Healthcare Team Members Is Essential. Musc Health Seeks Candidates Who Can Demonstrate Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills.
