- Provide compassionate and holistic palliative care to patients and their families.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Monitor and document patients' health status, progress, and response to treatments.
- Educate patients and their families on disease processes, treatment options, and symptom management.
- Advocate for patients' needs and preferences.

- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and organizational policies and procedures.

Current Rn License In The State Of South Carolina: The Ideal Candidate For The Palliative Care Registered Nurse Position At Musc Health Should Possess A Current And Active Registered Nurse License In The State Of South Carolina. This Ensures That The Nurse Is Legally Qualified To Practice In The State And Is Up-To-Date With All Necessary Certifications And Training.
Bachelor's Degree In Nursing: A Bachelor's Degree In Nursing Is Typically Required For Most Registered Nurse Positions, Including Those In Palliative Care. This Level Of Education Provides A Strong Foundation In Nursing Theory And Practice, As Well As The Necessary Clinical Experience To Excel In This Specialized Field.
Certification In Palliative Care: While Not Always A Requirement, Certification In Palliative Care Is Highly Desired For This Role. This Certification Demonstrates A Nurse's Expertise And Commitment To Providing Quality Care For Patients With Life-Limiting Illnesses And Their Families.
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Nursing Experience: Musc Health Prefers Candidates With At Least 2 Years Of Nursing Experience In A Clinical Setting. This Experience Allows The Nurse To Develop Strong Clinical Skills And Gain A Deeper Understanding Of The Complexities Of Caring For Patients With Serious Illnesses.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills: Palliative Care Nurses Work Closely With Patients, Families, And Interdisciplinary Teams. Therefore, Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Essential For This Role. The Ideal Candidate Should Be Able To Effectively Communicate With Empathy And Sensitivity, While Also Collaborating With Other Healthcare Professionals To Develop Comprehensive Care Plans.
