- Conduct comprehensive eye exams to diagnose and treat various eye conditions and diseases.
- Formulate and implement treatment plans for patients, including prescribing medications, performing surgeries, and recommending lifestyle changes.
- Analyze and interpret diagnostic tests and imaging results to make accurate diagnoses.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as optometrists, ophthalmic technicians, and nurses, to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Educate patients on eye health and disease prevention, as well as the potential risks and benefits of various treatment options.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and documentation.
- Stay up-to-date with advancements and developments in the field of ophthalmology through continuing education and research.
- Communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care.
- Adhere to all ethical and legal standards in the practice of ophthalmology.

- Continuously evaluate and improve upon clinical practices and workflows to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.
Medical Degree: A Qualified Ophthalmologist At Musc Health Must Possess A Doctor Of Medicine (Md) Or Doctor Of Osteopathic Medicine (Do) Degree From An Accredited Medical School.
Board Certification: The Candidate Should Be Board Certified Or Board Eligible In Ophthalmology By The American Board Of Ophthalmology (Abo) Or The American Osteopathic Board Of Ophthalmology (Aobo).
Residency Training: The Ideal Candidate Should Have Completed A 3-4 Year Residency Program In Ophthalmology Accredited By The Accreditation Council For Graduate Medical Education (Acgme) Or The American Osteopathic Association (Aoa).
State Licensure: A Valid And Unrestricted License To Practice Medicine In The State Of South Carolina Is Required For This Position.
Experience: Musc Health Prefers Candidates With At Least 2-3 Years Of Experience In The Field Of Ophthalmology. This Includes Experience In Diagnosing And Treating A Wide Range Of Eye Conditions, Performing Surgeries, And Managing Patient Care.
