Job Description

If so, then we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Monitor Technician at MUSC Health. As a Monitor Technician, you will be responsible for observing cardiac rhythms and alerting medical staff to any abnormalities.   1. Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms using specialized equipment and software.
  2. Alert medical staff to any abnormalities or changes in the patient's cardiac rhythm.
  3. Maintain accurate and detailed records of cardiac monitoring and any interventions taken.
  4. Collaborate with medical staff to ensure prompt and appropriate response to cardiac events.
  5. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff regarding cardiac monitoring procedures and results.
  6. Follow all protocols and procedures for cardiac monitoring to ensure patient safety.
  7. Keep up-to-date with changes and advancements in cardiac monitoring technology and techniques.
  8. Participate in ongoing training and education to maintain proficiency in cardiac monitoring.
  9. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including equipment and supplies.
  10. Demonstrate compassion and empathy towards patients and their families during stressful situations.
  11. Adhere to all privacy and confidentiality guidelines and regulations.
  12. Report any equipment malfunctions or issues to appropriate personnel.
  13. Follow all safety protocols and infection control measures.
  14. Attend and actively participate in team meetings and huddles.
  15. Provide exceptional customer service and patient care at all times.

Job Qualifications
  • Previous Experience: Candidates For A Monitor Technician Position At Musc Health Should Have A Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working In A Healthcare Setting, Preferably In A Cardiac Care Or Critical Care Unit.

  • Certification: A Valid Basic Life Support (Bls) Certification And Certified Cardiographic Technician (Cct) Or Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician (Crat) Certification Is Required For This Role.

  • Knowledge Of Cardiac Monitoring Equipment: Candidates Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Various Cardiac Monitoring Equipment, Including Telemetry And Electrocardiogram (Ecg/Ekg) Machines, And Be Able To Effectively Troubleshoot Any Technical Issues That May Arise.

  • Attention To Detail: As A Monitor Technician, It Is Essential To Have A Keen Eye For Detail And Be Able To Accurately Interpret And Analyze Cardiac Rhythms And Identify Any Abnormalities Or Changes.

  • Communication Skills: Strong Communication Skills, Both Verbal And Written, Are Crucial For This Role. A Monitor Technician Must Be Able To Effectively Communicate With Healthcare Providers, Patients, And Their Families To Provide Updates On Cardiac Rhythms And Assist With Any Urgent Situations.
