- Greet and welcome patients, visitors, and staff in a friendly and professional manner.
- Answer phone calls and respond to inquiries, routing calls to appropriate individuals as needed.
- Schedule patient appointments and manage provider schedules to optimize efficiency.
- Collect and enter patient information, including personal and insurance details, accurately and confidentially.
- Prepare and maintain patient medical records, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
- Assist with patient intake and check-in, including verifying insurance coverage and collecting co-payments.
- Coordinate referrals to specialists and other medical facilities, ensuring timely and accurate communication.
- Perform basic medical procedures, such as taking vitals and preparing patients for exams.
- Maintain inventory of office and medical supplies, restocking as needed.
- Keep the waiting room and exam rooms clean, organized, and stocked with necessary materials.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare providers to ensure a seamless patient experience.
- Handle sensitive and confidential information in a professional and discreet manner.
- Assist with administrative tasks, such as filing, data entry, and record keeping.
- Collaborate with other office staff to ensure smooth operation of the medical office.
- Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions to stay updated on office procedures and policies.
- Continuously seek to improve processes and procedures to enhance the patient experience.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with patients, staff, and healthcare providers.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the office manager or healthcare providers.
High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Educational Requirement For A Medical Office Assistant At Musc Health Is A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Shows A Basic Level Of Education And Competency In Reading, Writing, And Basic Math Skills.
Medical Office Assistant Certification: Candidates Should Hold A Certification In Medical Office Assisting From An Accredited Institution. This Ensures They Have A Comprehensive Understanding Of Medical Terminology, Office Procedures, And Hipaa Laws.
