  1. Develop and implement accurate and effective radiation treatment plans for patients, following physician prescriptions and departmental protocols.
  2. Collaborate with radiation oncologists, physicists, and other members of the treatment team to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of radiation therapy.
  3. Utilize advanced technology and software to calculate and verify radiation doses and monitor treatment delivery.
  4. Continuously monitor and evaluate treatment plans to ensure quality and accuracy, making adjustments as needed.
  5. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of treatment plans, calculations, and patient records.
  6. Stay informed about new developments and advancements in the field of medical dosimetry and implement best practices into daily work.
  7. Participate in quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and enhance patient care.
  8. Educate and communicate with patients and their families about treatment plans, side effects, and potential risks.
  9. Act as a mentor and resource for dosimetry students and other staff members.
  10. Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
  11. Attend departmental meetings and contribute ideas and suggestions for process improvements.
  12. Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to all HIPAA regulations.
  13. Participate in professional development opportunities, such as conferences and workshops, to enhance knowledge and skills.
  14. Demonstrate a commitment to providing exceptional patient care and promoting a positive and welcoming environment for all patients and team members.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Medical Dosimetry Or Related Field: A Strong Educational Background In Medical Dosimetry Is A Key Qualification For A Medical Dosimetrist Job At Musc Health. Candidates Should Possess A Bachelor's Degree In Medical Dosimetry Or A Related Field From An Accredited Institution.

  • Certification From The Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (Mdcb): Musc Health Requires All Medical Dosimetrists To Be Certified By The Mdcb. This Certification Ensures That Candidates Have Met The National Standards For Competency In Medical Dosimetry.

  • Experience In Radiation Therapy Treatment Planning: Candidates Should Have A Minimum Of 2-3 Years Of Experience In Radiation Therapy Treatment Planning. This Experience Should Include Working With Various Treatment Planning Systems And Delivering Precise Treatment Plans For A Variety Of Cancer Types.

  • Strong Understanding Of Anatomy And Medical Terminology: Medical Dosimetrists Must Have A Strong Understanding Of Human Anatomy And Medical Terminology To Accurately Plan Radiation Treatments. A Thorough Knowledge Of Radiation Physics And Biology Is Also Necessary.

  • Excellent Communication And Teamwork Skills: Medical Dosimetrists Work Closely With Radiation Oncologists, Medical Physicists, And Other Members Of The Healthcare Team. Therefore, Excellent Communication And Teamwork Skills Are Essential For Success In This Role At Musc Health.
