- Oversee all aspects of the histopathology laboratory, including scheduling, staffing, and workflow management.
- Ensure that all histopathology procedures and techniques are performed accurately and in accordance with established protocols and guidelines.
- Maintain and monitor laboratory equipment, ensuring proper functioning and maintenance.
- Train and supervise laboratory staff, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality work.
- Develop and implement quality control measures to ensure accuracy and precision in all laboratory processes.
- Keep abreast of new developments and advancements in the field of histopathology and implement necessary changes in the laboratory.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels, ordering necessary supplies and equipment to maintain efficient operations.
- Collaborate with other departments and healthcare professionals to provide timely and accurate results for patient diagnoses.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and protocols in the laboratory.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and ensure all staff are trained and following proper protocols.
- Participate in hiring, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions for laboratory staff.
- Stay updated on industry regulations and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and standards.
- Prepare reports and presentations to communicate laboratory performance and progress to upper management.

Bachelor's Degree In Histotechnology Or Related Field: A Strong Educational Background In Histotechnology Is Essential For A Histopathology Manager At Musc Health. This Degree Provides A Solid Foundation In The Skills And Knowledge Necessary To Oversee The Histopathology Department.
Certification As A Histotechnologist (Htl) Or Histotechnician (Ht): Musc Health Requires Candidates For The Histopathology Manager Position To Hold Current Certification As A Htl Or Ht Through A Recognized Accrediting Agency, Such As The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp).
Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In A Histopathology Laboratory: The Histopathology Manager At Musc Health Must Have A Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience Working In A Histopathology Laboratory, With Demonstrated Proficiency In All Aspects Of Histology Techniques And Procedures.
Knowledge Of Laboratory Regulations And Accreditation Standards: Musc Health Is Committed To Providing High-Quality Healthcare Services, And Compliance With Laboratory Regulations And Accreditation Standards Is Critical. The Histopathology Manager Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of These Regulations And Standards, Including Those Set By The College Of American Pathologists (Cap) And The Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (Clia).
