  1. Develop and implement a strategic plan for the grants and research department in alignment with the overall goals and mission of MUSC Health.
  2. Oversee and manage all aspects of the grants and research portfolio, including proposal development, submission, and post-award management.
  3. Build and maintain relationships with external funding agencies, partners, and collaborators to secure new funding opportunities and strengthen existing partnerships.
  4. Provide leadership and direction to the grants and research team, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  5. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines for grants and research, including ethical standards and institutional policies.
  6. Monitor and evaluate the performance of grants and research projects, identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary changes to ensure successful outcomes.
  7. Prepare and present reports to senior leadership and funding agencies on the progress, impact, and outcomes of grants and research initiatives.
  8. Develop and manage the grants and research department budget, ensuring efficient and effective use of resources.
  9. Stay informed about current trends and developments in the healthcare and research fields, and make recommendations for incorporating new strategies and technologies into our work.
  10. Serve as a representative and spokesperson for the grants and research department, promoting its achievements and impact within the organization and to external stakeholders.

Job Qualifications

  • Advanced Degree In A Relevant Field: A Successful Candidate For The Executive Director Of Grants And Research Position At Musc Health Should Possess At Least A Master's Degree In A Related Field, Such As Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Or Business Administration.

  • Extensive Experience In Grant Writing And Management: The Ideal Candidate Should Have At Least 5-7 Years Of Experience In Grant Writing And Management, Preferably In A Healthcare Or Academic Setting. They Should Also Have A Proven Track Record Of Securing Large Grants And Managing The Entire Grant Process.

  • Strong Knowledge Of Research Methodology And Regulations: The Executive Director Of Grants And Research Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Research Methodology And Regulations, Including Irb Requirements And Ethical Considerations. This Knowledge Is Essential For Overseeing And Ensuring Compliance With All Research Activities At Musc Health.

  • Excellent Communication And Leadership Skills: As The Head Of The Grants And Research Department, The Executive Director Should Possess Exceptional Communication And Leadership Abilities. They Should Be Able To Effectively Communicate With Various Stakeholders, Including Researchers, Administrators, And Funding Agencies. They Should Also Be Able To Motivate And Lead A Team To Achieve Departmental Goals.

  • Strategic Thinking And Financial Acumen: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Strategic Mindset And Be Able To Think Critically And Analytically When Developing And Implementing Grant And Research Strategies. They Should Also Possess Strong Financial Acumen To Manage Budgets And Make Strategic Decisions Regarding Funding Allocations And Resource Utilization.
