As a Child Life Specialist, you will play a vital role in helping children cope with the stress and challenges of hospitalization.   1. Provide emotional and developmental support to children and families during hospitalization.
  2. Utilize knowledge of child development to create age-appropriate activities and interventions for patients.
  3. Collaborate with healthcare team to assess patient needs and develop individualized care plans.
  4. Educate and prepare children for medical procedures and surgeries using developmentally appropriate techniques.
  5. Use effective communication skills to establish rapport and build trusting relationships with patients and families.
  6. Help children express their feelings and cope with the stress of hospitalization through play, art, and other therapeutic activities.
  7. Facilitate and coordinate special events and programs for pediatric patients, such as holiday celebrations and birthday parties.
  8. Advocate for the psychosocial needs of children and communicate with healthcare team to ensure holistic care.
  9. Maintain accurate documentation of patient interactions and progress.
  10. Participate in ongoing education and training to stay informed on best practices in child life services.
  11. Collaborate with community organizations and volunteers to enhance child life services.
  12. Adhere to ethical and professional standards set forth by the Child Life Council.
  13. Provide support and resources for families to promote effective coping strategies during hospitalization and beyond.
  14. Promote a positive and welcoming environment for pediatric patients and their families.
  15. Continuously assess and evaluate the effectiveness of child life services and make recommendations for improvements.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In Child Life, Child Development, Or A Related Field.

  • Certification As A Child Life Specialist (Ccls) Through The Association Of Child Life Professionals.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working With Children In A Healthcare Setting.

  • Strong Understanding Of Child Development, Coping Mechanisms, And Family Dynamics.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Collaboratively With A Multidisciplinary Team.
