
Child Life Specialist

- Provide emotional and developmental support to children and families during hospitalization.
- Utilize knowledge of child development to create age-appropriate activities and interventions for patients.
- Collaborate with healthcare team to assess patient needs and develop individualized care plans.
- Educate and prepare children for medical procedures and surgeries using developmentally appropriate techniques.
- Use effective communication skills to establish rapport and build trusting relationships with patients and families.
- Help children express their feelings and cope with the stress of hospitalization through play, art, and other therapeutic activities.
- Facilitate and coordinate special events and programs for pediatric patients, such as holiday celebrations and birthday parties.
- Advocate for the psychosocial needs of children and communicate with healthcare team to ensure holistic care.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient interactions and progress.
- Participate in ongoing education and training to stay informed on best practices in child life services.
- Collaborate with community organizations and volunteers to enhance child life services.
- Adhere to ethical and professional standards set forth by the Child Life Council.
- Provide support and resources for families to promote effective coping strategies during hospitalization and beyond.
- Promote a positive and welcoming environment for pediatric patients and their families.
- Continuously assess and evaluate the effectiveness of child life services and make recommendations for improvements.
Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In Child Life, Child Development, Or A Related Field.
Certification As A Child Life Specialist (Ccls) Through The Association Of Child Life Professionals.
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working With Children In A Healthcare Setting.
Strong Understanding Of Child Development, Coping Mechanisms, And Family Dynamics.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Collaboratively With A Multidisciplinary Team.
