- Perform dialysis procedures on patients according to established protocols and procedures.
- Monitor and record vital signs, blood pressure, and other relevant information during dialysis treatments.
- Administer and document medications as prescribed by the physician.
- Prepare and maintain dialysis equipment, including testing and troubleshooting.
- Educate patients and their families on the dialysis process and self-care techniques.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to provide comprehensive care to patients.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and charts.
- Ensure a safe and clean environment for patients undergoing dialysis.
- Recognize and respond to emergency situations during dialysis treatments.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to infection control and safety protocols.

Completion Of An Accredited Dialysis Technician Training Program: Candidates For A Certified Dialysis Technician Position At Musc Health Must Have Completed A Training Program From An Accredited Institution. This Ensures That They Have The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Perform The Job Duties Effectively.
Certification As A Dialysis Technician: Musc Health Requires That All Certified Dialysis Technicians Hold A Valid Certification From A Recognized Organization Such As The National Nephrology Certification Organization (Nnco) Or The Board Of Nephrology Examiners Nursing And Technology (Bonent).
Experience In A Clinical Setting: Candidates With Prior Experience Working In A Clinical Setting, Preferably In A Dialysis Unit, Are Preferred For This Position. This Demonstrates Their Understanding Of Medical Terminology, Procedures, And Equipment Used In A Healthcare Environment.
Knowledge Of Dialysis Equipment And Procedures: Musc Health Requires Candidates To Have A Strong Understanding Of Dialysis Equipment, Procedures, And Protocols. This Includes Knowledge Of Water Treatment Systems, Dialysis Machines, And How To Perform Tasks Such As Initiating And Discontinuing Dialysis, Monitoring Patients, And Administering Medications.
Strong Communication And Teamwork Skills: A Certified Dialysis Technician At Musc Health Must Have Excellent Communication Skills And The Ability To Work Well In A Team. They Will Be Working Closely With Patients, Physicians, And Other Healthcare Professionals, So The Ability To Communicate Effectively And Collaborate Is Essential For Success In This Role.
