  1. Provide advanced and evidence-based care to patients in the emergency department.
  2. Utilize expertise, critical thinking skills, and a compassionate approach to meet the unique needs of each patient.
  3. Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members to provide comprehensive and coordinated care.
  4. Maintain a current NP or PA license in the state of South Carolina.
  5. Have a minimum of two years of experience in an emergency medicine setting.
  6. Maintain accurate and thorough medical records for each patient.
  7. Utilize diagnostic and treatment tools to assess and manage patient conditions.
  8. Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing education and support as needed.
  9. Keep up-to-date with advancements and changes in emergency medicine practices and procedures.
  10. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations.
  11. Maintain a high level of professionalism and ethical standards in all interactions with patients, colleagues, and staff.
  12. Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
  13. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
  14. Assist with emergency procedures and interventions as needed.
  15. Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and participate in performance improvement activities.
  16. Provide support and guidance to less experienced team members.
  17. Adhere to infection control and safety protocols.
  18. Serve as an advocate for patients, ensuring their needs are met and their rights are respected.
  19. Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
  20. Represent MUSC Health in a positive and professional manner at all times.

Job Qualifications
  • Advanced Degree In Nursing Or Physician Assistant Studies: The Ideal Candidate For An Advanced Practice Provider Position At Musc Health Should Have A Master's Degree In Nursing Or Physician Assistant Studies From An Accredited Program. This Advanced Education Provides The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Effectively Diagnose And Treat Patients In The Emergency Department.

  • Current Certification As A Nurse Practitioner Or Physician Assistant: Candidates Should Have Current Certification From A Recognized National Organization Such As The American Nurses Credentialing Center (Ancc) Or The National Commission On Certification Of Physician Assistants (Nccpa). This Demonstrates A Commitment To Ongoing Education And Professional Development.

  • Previous Experience In Emergency Medicine: The Musc Health Emergency Department Is A Fast-Paced And High-Pressure Environment, So It Is Essential That Candidates Have Prior Experience Working In Emergency Medicine. This Experience Should Include Managing Acute And Critical Cases, As Well As The Ability To Perform Procedures Commonly Seen In The Emergency Department.

  • Strong Communication And Collaboration Skills: As An Advanced Practice Provider At Musc Health, The Candidate Must Be Able To Effectively Communicate With Patients, Families, And Other Healthcare Team Members. This Includes The Ability To Collaborate With Physicians, Nurses, And Other Providers To Develop And Implement Treatment Plans.

  • Active State Licensure And Dea Registration: Candidates Must Have A Current And Unrestricted License To Practice As A Nurse Practitioner Or Physician Assistant In The State Of South Carolina. Additionally, They Must Hold A Current Dea Registration To Prescribe Medications. This Ensures That The Candidate Is Legally Authorized To Provide Care And Prescribe Medications Within The Scope Of Their Practice.
