  1. Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations of adolescent patients to determine appropriate treatment plans.
  2. Develop and implement treatment plans for adolescent patients with mental health disorders.
  3. Monitor and assess the progress of adolescent patients during treatment and make adjustments as needed.
  4. Collaborate with other medical professionals, including therapists and nurses, to ensure comprehensive care for adolescent patients.
  5. Provide guidance and support to patients' families and caregivers.
  6. Stay up-to-date on current research and best practices in adolescent psychiatry.
  7. Maintain accurate and thorough medical records for all patients.
  8. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and colleagues to ensure a positive and supportive treatment environment.
  9. Advocate for the mental health needs of adolescent patients within the healthcare system.
  10. Participate in team meetings and case conferences to discuss treatment plans and progress.
  11. Adhere to all ethical and legal standards in patient care.
  12. Attend continuing education courses and workshops to enhance knowledge and skills in adolescent psychiatry.
  13. Maintain a positive and professional demeanor in interactions with patients, families, and colleagues.
  14. Collaborate with community resources and organizations to provide comprehensive care for adolescent patients.
  15. Contribute to the growth and development of the adolescent psychiatry program at MUSC Health.

Job Qualifications

  • Medical Degree: A Qualified Adolescent Psychiatrist At Musc Health Must Hold A Medical Degree From An Accredited Institution. This Typically Involves Completing A Four-Year Undergraduate Degree, Followed By Four Years Of Medical School.

  • Residency Training: In Addition To Their Medical Degree, A Candidate Must Have Completed A Four-Year Residency Training Program In Psychiatry. This Includes Specialized Training In Child And Adolescent Psychiatry.

  • Board Certification: Musc Health Requires All Adolescent Psychiatrists To Be Board Certified In Psychiatry And/Or Child And Adolescent Psychiatry. This Demonstrates A High Level Of Expertise And Knowledge In The Field.

  • Experience With Adolescents: Candidates Must Have Prior Experience Working With Adolescents In A Clinical Setting. This Can Include Internships, Fellowships, Or Previous Employment In A Psychiatric Or Mental Health Facility.

  • Licensure: All Adolescent Psychiatrists At Musc Health Must Be Licensed To Practice In The State Of South Carolina. This Requires Passing The United States Medical Licensing Examination (Usmle) Or The Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination (Comlex) And Meeting All State Requirements For Licensure.
