
Sterile Processing Technician
Processes and oversees all contaminated instruments, returned to Sterile Processing. Uses knowledge of tray assembly and sterilization principles to correctly prepare items for sterilization. Properly loads, operates and cleans steam sterilizer and sterrad system and all general equipment, using biological and chemical control tests as required by the department and Joint Commission standards. Maintains appropriate sterilization testing on a routine basis and documents results as required. Works closely with the Director and Lead Technician and assist with the orientation for new personnel. Check all instruments for defects, proper working order, and a final check for cleanliness. Assembly instrument sets and trays according to the established count sheet select proper packaging material and wraps and labels for all items sterilized. Operate all sterilization equipment following all manufacturers' recommendations. Order supplies for the department as needed.
Current certification (CRCST) required.
