
Pathologist Assistant
Moffitt Cancer Center is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Pathologist Assistant to join our team of professionals. This position is responsible for performing a variety of routine and specialized clinical laboratory functions under the general supervision of a Pathologist. We are looking for an individual with expertise in assisting with the completion of autopsy activities, cytology, and gross description of surgical specimens. The successful candidate must have a passion for helping cancer patients and a commitment to providing the highest quality of patient care.Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Medical Laboratory Science or Clinical Laboratory Science, or a combination of education and experience. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have experience working in a clinical laboratory setting and must have prior experience with analysis of surgical and autopsy specimens. Working knowledge of laboratory instrumentation, laboratory safety, and quality control procedures are also required. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team are essential for this position.
Responsibilities:
- Perform a variety of routine and specialized clinical laboratory functions under the general supervision of a Pathologist.
- Assist with the completion of autopsy activities, cytology, and gross description of surgical specimens.
- Provide the highest quality of patient care.
- Analyze surgical and autopsy specimens.
- Maintain laboratory instrumentation, laboratory safety, and quality control procedures.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and other healthcare professionals.
- Work independently as well as part of a team.
- Monitor and maintain all laboratory records.
- Perform quality assurance checks on all laboratory tests and procedures.
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines.
