- Develop and implement strategic direction for the technical accounting policies and procedures of MetLife.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements related to technical accounting.
- Lead the Technical Accounting Group and provide strong leadership to team members.
- Monitor industry trends and changes in accounting standards to ensure MetLife's policies are up-to-date and in line with best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish and maintain accounting policies and procedures that align with business objectives.
- Conduct research and provide guidance on complex accounting issues.
- Manage and review financial statements and disclosures to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of technical accounting processes.
- Provide training and guidance to team members and other stakeholders on technical accounting matters.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external auditors, regulators, and other industry experts.
- Prepare and present reports to executive leadership on technical accounting matters.
- Stay abreast of changes in the insurance and financial services industry that may impact technical accounting practices.
- Represent MetLife in industry forums and conferences to share insights and best practices on technical accounting.
- Mentor and develop team members to ensure a high-performing and motivated team.
- Uphold MetLife's values and ethical standards in all aspects of work.
Extensive Knowledge Of Gaap And Sec Regulations: The Vp & Head Of Technical Accounting Group At Metlife Must Possess A Deep Understanding Of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (Gaap) And Securities And Exchange Commission (Sec) Regulations. This Includes Staying Up-To-Date With Any Changes Or Updates To These Standards.
Strong Leadership And Management Skills: This Role Requires Strong Leadership And Management Skills To Oversee The Technical Accounting Group And Guide The Team In Complex Accounting Matters. The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Proven Track Record Of Successfully Managing A Team And Driving Results.
Cpa Certification: A Certified Public Accountant (Cpa) Certification Is A Must For This Position. This Ensures A Strong Foundation In Accounting Principles And Demonstrates A High Level Of Expertise In The Field.
Experience In Insurance Industry: Metlife Is A Leading Insurance Company And Therefore, The Ideal Candidate Should Have Significant Experience In The Insurance Industry. This Includes A Strong Understanding Of Insurance Accounting, Financial Reporting, And Regulatory Requirements.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills: The Vp & Head Of Technical Accounting Group Will Be Responsible For Communicating Complex Accounting Matters To Various Stakeholders, Including Senior Management, Auditors, And Regulators. Therefore, Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Essential For This Role.
