Job Description

MetLife is seeking an experienced, hardworking, and organized individual to join our Short Term Disability (STD) Unit as a Unit Leader. The successful candidate must have a minimum of five years of relevant experience in disability benefits and/or case management, and a Bachelor's Degree in a related field. This position requires a strong leader who is capable of effectively managing a team of STD professionals with an emphasis on developing and maintaining an engaged, results-oriented team. The Unit Leader will be responsible for assigning and managing workloads, and ensuring that employees are meeting their goals and objectives. Additionally, the Unit Leader will need to have excellent communication skills, and be able to effectively collaborate with other stakeholders including management, members, and vendors. Responsibilities:

  1. Lead a team of STD professionals in order to ensure that all goals and objectives are met.
  2. Monitor team performance and assign workloads as necessary.
  3. Develop and implement strategies for employee engagement and team development.
  4. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of disability benefits and case management.
  5. Collaborate with other stakeholders, including management, members, and vendors.
  6. Create reports to monitor team performance and progress.
  7. Provide guidance and support to team members when needed.
  8. Resolve any conflicts or issues that arise within the team.
  9. Coach, mentor, and train team members on best practices and procedures.
  10. Ensure that team members are compliant with all applicable laws and regulations.
