- Provide strategic legal guidance and support on employee benefits and compensation matters.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement innovative benefit and compensation programs.
- Stay up-to-date on relevant laws and regulations related to employee benefits and compensation.
- Conduct legal research and analysis to support decision-making and ensure compliance.
- Draft, review, and negotiate legal agreements and documents related to employee benefits and compensation.
- Advise on the legal implications of new benefit and compensation initiatives and provide recommendations for risk mitigation.
- Communicate complex legal concepts and guidance in a clear and concise manner to non-legal stakeholders.
- Participate in the development and delivery of training programs to ensure compliance with legal requirements.
- Manage relationships with external legal counsel and other third-party service providers.
- Identify and address potential legal risks and issues related to employee benefits and compensation.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify and implement process improvements and best practices.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and developments in employee benefits and compensation to inform decision-making and provide thought leadership.
Extensive Knowledge Of Employee Benefits And Compensation Laws And Regulations: A Senior Counsel In This Position Must Have A Deep Understanding Of Federal And State Laws Related To Employee Benefits And Compensation, Including Erisa, Cobra, Hipaa, And Other Relevant Legislation.
Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills: This Role Requires The Ability To Analyze Complex Legal Issues And Identify Potential Risks And Implications For The Company. The Senior Counsel Must Also Be Able To Develop Creative Solutions To Address Legal Challenges And Mitigate Potential Risks.
Proven Experience In Employee Benefits And Compensation Law: Metlife Is Seeking A Candidate With A Minimum Of 8-10 Years Of Experience Practicing Law In The Employee Benefits And Compensation Field, Preferably With A Focus On Erisa Litigation And Compliance.
Excellent Communication And Negotiation Skills: As A Senior Counsel, The Candidate Will Be Expected To Effectively Communicate Complex Legal Concepts To A Variety Of Stakeholders, Including Senior Management, Hr Professionals, And External Counsel. The Ability To Negotiate And Advocate For The Company's Interests In Legal Matters Is Also Crucial.
Strong Leadership And Project Management Abilities: This Role Requires A Candidate Who Can Effectively Lead And Manage A Team Of Attorneys And Paralegals, As Well As Oversee Multiple Projects And Initiatives Simultaneously. The Senior Counsel Must Also Be Able To Work Collaboratively With Other Departments And External Partners To Achieve Common Goals.
