Job Description

At MetLife, we’re looking for an experienced Senior Counsel & Assistant Corporate Secretary to join our team and help shape the future of our organization. We’re seeking an individual who is an excellent communicator, strategic thinker, and problem solver.The Senior Counsel & Assistant Corporate Secretary will report to the Corporate Secretary and be responsible for providing a broad range of legal services to the Company. This position requires the ability to manage multiple projects, effectively collaborate with legal and business colleagues, and demonstrate an understanding of the legal and regulatory environment in which MetLife operates.The successful candidate must have a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and be admitted to the bar in at least one jurisdiction. A minimum of five years of legal practice experience is also required, including significant experience in corporate governance and public company transactional and regulatory matters. Responsibilities:

  1. Provide legal services to the Company, including corporate governance and public company transactional and regulatory matters.
  2. Effectively collaborate with legal and business colleagues.
  3. Manage multiple projects and demonstrate an understanding of the legal and regulatory environment in which MetLife operates.
  4. Draft and negotiate contracts and other legal documents.
  5. Review and advise on corporate policies and procedures.
  6. Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  7. Provide legal advice and counsel to senior management.
  8. Monitor and evaluate changes in the legal and regulatory environment.
  9. Develop and present legal training programs.
  10. Represent the Company in legal proceedings and negotiations.
