Job Description

At MetLife, we are looking for a highly motivated and talented Legal Counsel to join our team. The ideal candidate will be an organized professional with a strong legal background and a passionate determination to protect the interests of our company. Our ideal candidate will be a self-starter who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and has the ability to quickly adapt to new situations.The Legal Counsel will provide legal advice and support to MetLife’s business units and senior management on a wide range of matters, from commercial and corporate law to regulatory and compliance issues.To be considered for this role, you must have a law degree from an accredited law school and be admitted to practice law in at least one state. You should have at least 5 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in the financial services industry. In addition, excellent communication, research, and analytical skills are essential, as well as the ability to effectively negotiate with outside counsel. Experience in the areas of securities, corporate governance, and banking law is preferred.If you think you have the qualifications and experience to excel in this role, we look forward to hearing from you!

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide legal advice and support to MetLife’s business units and senior management on a wide range of matters.
  2. Negotiate with outside counsel.
  3. Ensure the company is in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  4. Conduct legal research and analysis.
  5. Review and draft contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
  6. Advise on corporate governance and securities laws.
  7. Monitor legislative and regulatory changes.
  8. Identify and manage potential legal risks.
  9. Represent the company in legal proceedings, if necessary.
  10. Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices.
