Job Description

Come join our team as the Director of Accounting Policy for our Investments division at MetLife! We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to provide strategic leadership and guidance on accounting policies and procedures for our investments portfolio. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with industry regulations and accounting standards, as well as driving continuous improvement within our financial reporting processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in investments accounting, as well as exceptional communication and leadership skills.   1. Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures for the Investments division in alignment with industry regulations and accounting standards.
  2. Provide strategic leadership and guidance to the finance team on investments accounting matters.
  3. Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial reports for the investments portfolio.
  4. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of existing accounting policies and recommend improvements as needed.
  5. Stay updated on accounting regulations and industry trends to ensure compliance and identify potential risks.
  6. Collaborate with other departments, such as legal and compliance, to ensure consistency and accuracy in financial reporting.
  7. Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
  8. Communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  9. Work with external auditors to facilitate the annual audit process.
  10. Identify and implement process improvements to streamline financial reporting and increase efficiency.
  11. Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.
  12. Represent the company in industry forums and conferences, staying informed on best practices and advancements in investments accounting.
  13. Monitor and manage the department's budget and resources effectively.
  14. Ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial data and reports.
  15. Drive a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the accounting department.

Job Qualifications
  • Extensive Knowledge And Experience In Accounting Policies And Procedures, Preferably In The Insurance Or Investment Industry.

  • Strong Understanding Of Investment Products And Asset Classes, Including Fixed Income, Equities, Real Estate, And Alternative Investments.

  • Proven Track Record Of Implementing And Maintaining Accounting Policies In Accordance With Regulatory Requirements And Industry Best Practices.

  • Excellent Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills, With The Ability To Interpret Complex Financial Data And Provide Strategic Solutions.

  • Effective Communication And Leadership Skills, With The Ability To Collaborate With Cross-Functional Teams And Present To Senior Management And External Stakeholders.
