- Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures, including abdominal, obstetrical, gynecological, vascular, and small parts imaging, in accordance with department protocols and physician orders.
- Ensure patient safety and comfort during procedures, including proper positioning and use of appropriate equipment and techniques.
- Review patient medical history and communicate any relevant information to the interpreting physician.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of procedures performed, patient information, and any adverse reactions or complications.
- Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, including troubleshooting and performing necessary calibrations and maintenance.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and timely diagnosis and treatment plans.
- Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Continuously monitor and evaluate image quality to ensure accurate and high-quality diagnostic images.
- Educate and communicate with patients and their families about procedures, answer any questions or concerns, and provide appropriate follow-up instructions.
- Stay current with advancements and developments in ultrasound technology, techniques, and protocols through continuing education and professional development opportunities.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA regulations and guidelines.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team to ensure a positive and efficient patient experience.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including stocking and ordering necessary supplies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and assist in developing and implementing department policies and procedures.

Certification In Diagnostic Medical Sonography: Mercy Requires All Ultrasound Technologists To Hold A Current Certification In Diagnostic Medical Sonography From An Accredited Institution. This Ensures That The Technologist Has Received Proper Training And Is Proficient In Performing Ultrasound Procedures.
Minimum Of 1 Year Of Experience: To Be Considered For The Prn Position At Mercy, Candidates Must Have At Least 1 Year Of Experience Working As An Ultrasound Technologist. This Shows That The Candidate Has Practical Experience And Is Familiar With The Equipment And Procedures Used In A Clinical Setting.
