  1. Assist surgeons during surgical procedures by preparing and organizing surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies.
  2. Ensure the safety and well-being of patients by maintaining a sterile environment and adhering to infection control protocols.
  3. Monitor and anticipate the needs of the surgical team, including passing instruments, sponges, and sutures.
  4. Prepare and maintain surgical equipment, including sterilizing and restocking.
  5. Communicate effectively with the surgical team, providing necessary information and anticipating potential issues.
  6. Document and maintain accurate records of surgical procedures and supplies used.
  7. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible patient outcomes.
  8. Stay current on industry standards and best practices related to surgical technology.
  9. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including those related to patient confidentiality and safety.
  10. Provide emotional support to patients and their families before, during, and after surgical procedures.
  11. Act as a role model for junior surgical technologists and assist in training and mentoring new team members.
  12. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and assist in maintaining the highest level of patient care.
  13. Maintain a professional and compassionate attitude at all times, even in high-stress situations.
  14. Collaborate with other departments and healthcare professionals to ensure efficient and effective patient care.
  15. Adhere to all legal and ethical standards related to surgical technology.

Job Qualifications

  • Certification: A Surgical Technologist At Mercy Should Possess A Valid Certification From An Accredited Program Such As The National Board Of Surgical Technology And Surgical Assisting (Nbstsa).

  • Knowledge Of Surgical Procedures: Candidates Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of Various Surgical Procedures And Be Able To Anticipate The Needs Of The Surgical Team During Procedures.

  • Sterilization And Infection Control: As A Surgical Technologist, It Is Crucial To Maintain A Sterile And Safe Environment In The Operating Room. Candidates Should Have Knowledge Of Proper Sterilization Techniques And Infection Control Protocols.

  • Attention To Detail: Surgical Procedures Require A High Level Of Precision And Attention To Detail. Candidates Should Have Excellent Hand-Eye Coordination And Be Able To Follow Instructions Accurately.
