As a Surgical Technologist at Mercy, you will play a crucial role in assisting our surgical team in providing safe and efficient care to our patients.   1. Assist the surgical team in preparing the operating room for surgical procedures.
  2. Sterilize and maintain surgical equipment and instruments.
  3. Monitor and maintain inventory of surgical supplies and equipment.
  4. Anticipate the needs of the surgical team during procedures and provide necessary support.
  5. Prepare patients for surgery by positioning and draping.
  6. Assist with patient transfers and positioning during surgery.
  7. Maintain a sterile environment in the operating room.
  8. Prepare and maintain surgical dressings and supplies.
  9. Monitor and document patient vital signs and report any changes to the surgical team.
  10. Prepare and transport specimens to the laboratory for testing.
  11. Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols.
  12. Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families.
  13. Communicate effectively with the surgical team, patients, and their families.
  14. Continuously update knowledge and skills in surgical technology.
  15. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure the highest quality of care for patients.

Job Qualifications
  • Certification In Surgical Technology: Candidates Must Hold A Valid Certification From An Accredited Surgical Technology Program.

  • Knowledge Of Surgical Procedures: A Thorough Understanding Of Surgical Procedures And Equipment Is Required, Including Sterile Technique, Infection Control, And Surgical Instrumentation.

  • Experience In A Clinical Setting: Previous Experience Working In A Clinical Setting, Such As A Hospital Or Surgical Center, Is Preferred.

  • Familiarity With Electronic Medical Records: Proficiency With Electronic Medical Records (Emr) Systems Is Necessary For Maintaining Accurate Patient Records And Tracking Surgical Procedures.

  • Teamwork And Communication Skills: The Ability To Work Effectively In A Team And Communicate Clearly And Professionally With Surgeons, Nurses, And Other Healthcare Professionals Is Essential In This Role.
